Auckland born Ben acts as trimmer and helm for the sailing team. He is a graduate of the Royal New Zealand Youth scheme and has completed two Sydney to Hobart races, one Fastnet, the Asian circuit, Transpac regattas and a two-handed race Round North Island (NZ).

Ben’s hobbies include mountain biking, running and rugby. His worst moment sailing was through the middle of a tornado in the 2001 Sydney to Hobart race. His best was winning Bay of Islands sailing week in a sports boats for its excitment and reward.
After a long trip on freeze dried food he looks forward to a steak, medium rear with green pepper sauce, served with a side of fries and fresh salad. (Yum)
