Olympic silver medallist Rodion Luka is helmsman and main trimmer on Kosatka. Rodion sailed in the 49er class in Qingdao, China this August. He has extensive skiff and dinghy racing experience, which is essential for handling high performance Volvo 70’s. His Olympic campaigns include representing Ukraine in the Laser Class in Atlanta (1996) and the 49er class in Sydney (2000), Athens (2004) where he won his silver medal and most recently in Beijing (2008).

Rodion was born and lives in Kiev, Ukraine with his wife and son. When he’s not sailing he enjoys golf, surfing, mountain biking and swimming. His worst moment sailing was being hit by lightning on his 49er in Sydney Harbour. His best moments were winning the USSR youth championship in 1988 and an Olympic medal in 2004.
A fan of Ukrainian borsch (beetroot soup), the three most important things to Rodion are his family, friends and of course sailing. His star sign is Scorpio.
